5 Step Facial

Trick and Treated to much? All partied out? Is your skin showing it? Halloween makeup or a mix of alcohol and sugary sweets can do a number on your skin. Facials are an important part to maintaining a healthy skin complexion. I typically try to get a professional facial every other month. But, while professional facials can be pretty costly, there are plenty of spa-worthy products in today's market that are perfect for giving yourself an inexpensive at-home facial.

Here’s how to give yourself a lovely at-home facial in just 5 easy steps:
What you'll need:
gentle facial cleanser
exfoliating scrub
washcloth
face mask (clay-based for oily skin, cream or gel mask for dry skin)
face moisturizer

First step, Clean. Remove all makeup and then wash your face, neck and ears with a good facial cleanser.

Next up is to Exfoliate. Use your fingers gently and rub an exfoliating facial scrub in small circular motions over your face. Making sure you focus on areas around your nose and forehead.

Set to Steam. There are a few ways you can steam your face (over the stove, using a steamer), but the safest way is to use a washcloth. To do this, fill your sink with warm water and soak a washcloth in it. Ring out the towel and then press it to your face. Repeat this step at least two times. Easy!

Mask it. If you have oily skin, try using a clay mask. For dry skin, I would suggest using a hydrating cream or gel mask. Now, depending on the mask, leave it on for the suggested amount of time and then rinse completely, making sure to get all reminiscences off. An amazing brand for scrubs and facial masks is 100% Pure Organic.

Last up, Hydrate. Last by not least, moisturize! Smooth a nice, thick moisturizer over your face and neck. I use Aveeno products daily. My favorite is their Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer.

Let your skin breath for a while before you apply your daily makeup. I usually do my facials before I cozy up for bed in the evenings.
