Jeanne Beker to be honoured at inaugural Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards

Longtime fashion and media icon Jeanne Beker will be honoured at the first-ever Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards.

The Fashion Television Channel's amazing host has been named as the recipient of a benchmark career award at the inaugural gala early next year (2014).

Presenting Jeanne Beker with this iconic award – designed exclusively for CAFA by celebrated industrial designer Karim Rashid – will be Joe Fresh's creative director, Joseph Mimran, who has been named honorary chair of the event.

For years, I have been a huge fan of Jeanne. She was host of "Fashion Television" for about 27 years before the sensational style series was cancelled last year. I remembering watching it while I ate breakfast and flipped through fashion magazines in the mornings.
Jeanne has still maintained a stylish presence since the television show, with several fashionable and creative projects including her work with the Fashion Television Channel and as creative director of her own fashion line, Edit by Jeanne Beker, which launched in 2010 at The Bay.

"We are honoured to be presenting Jeanne with a special achievement award to recognize and celebrate her work in the fashion industry. She is a wonderful advocate and ambassador for fashion in Canada," CAFA (The Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards) managing director Vicky Milner said in a statement September 5, 2013.
